Tampere University of Applied Sciences, TAMK is collaborating with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA.
During fall semester 2016 and spring semester 2017 our team will try to tackle the epic challenge of sustaining humans on Mars.
Our work will take place in a local setting in Tampere with a remote connection to NASA and to its experts.
The project goal is to design symbiotic multifunctional food growing system for nutrition needs of future marstronauts and protein source, further fertilization needs of plants, raw materials for construction, and manufacturing in Mars.
Project’s main concentration is to design and build prototype to test concept in small scale and ultimately send it within 2018 Mars lander capsule for final stage experimentation.
